Vikings of the Sunrise.

From the blurb: This book is an attempt, by the outstanding authority on Polynesia, to make known to the general public some of the romance associated with the settlement of the Pacific Islands by a Stone Age people who were probably the greatest navigators the world has ever seen. My note: Only in a book from the 1930s, when this book was first published, would you find a caption that reads: "Young Maori woman of good type." What, one immediately wonders, was a "bad type"? Someone who wasn't content to do nothing more than weave baskets and pose for the cameras of tourists?
